THE STORY

Red tides, chemical leaks, and water runoff are just a few of the concerns we deal with here in Tampa Bay. With so much water surrounding our beautiful land, it becomes increasingly apparent how much effort we need to extend to protect it.

That’s why we’re spreading the love this holiday with a “Love Your Water” event hosted here at Fisherman’s Cove RV Resort.

Water conservation is a crucial issue that affects us all. With over 71% of the earth’s surface covered in water, we must take steps to protect and preserve our oceans and waterways. That’s why Captain Erik of Fishlikeus.com and Captain Planet of Eco Homies Inc. have partnered with our resort to create the largest reef installation project in Manatee County, Florida.

An “artificial reef” is a home, per se, that can support five-hundred fish, crabs, and shrimp living in and around it every year. A mini-reef with all its inhabitants can filter over 30,000 gallons of water daily! This means that our twenty-five mini-reefs could filter an average of seven-hundred and fifty gallons of water per day. That’s amazing for restoring our ecosystems and the health of the species we find living in them.

THE EVENT

The “Love Your Water” event will run from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday, February 11th, and will feature the installation of the artificial reefs alongside a kayak trash rodeo.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the importance of preserving our oceans and the creatures that call them home. They can also participate in a fun and unique way of exploring the waters of Terra Ceia Bayou by helping us pick up trash and debris from the mangroves and public entry points. Our sponsors will give prizes for the most trash collected at the end of the day.

The artificial reef installation will be an educational experience for all ages, and attendees will learn about the benefits of artificial reefs and their role in supporting marine life. This will provide a hands-on opportunity to learn about ocean conservation and see the positive impact that artificial reefs can have on marine life.

It’s time we stopped restricting our involvement in nature and started getting more involved with what we can do to help. In a season of love, where we’re so focused on spreading goodwill to those around us, a “Love Your Water” event couldn’t be more apropos.

Join us at Fisherman’s Cove RV Resort by booking a reservation online for this event and more! Those who choose to join our festivities locally can park on Sea Breeze Point or surrounding public lands. This is an “on the water” event where we hope to see you and your kayak next Saturday!

For more information and details, please visit Fishlikeus.com’s events page, where weather, maps of our location, and updates will be posted for the day’s events. We look forward to seeing you next weekend or anytime you’re ready to view our growing marine sanctuary here at Fisherman’s Cove RV Resort.
