Beach-Free Activities

We can all guess the main reasons people come to Florida. But there is more to do here than sip margaritas beachside. Rain, or painfully burnt and staying out of the sunshine…we’re going to share our top beach-free activities.

Ringling Museum

The Ringling is a great way to spend a day sightseeing and learning about experiences that are dear to our childhoods. With a little something for everyone, you can visit numerous attractions, including the Museum of Art, Circus Museum, Ca’D’Zan, Historic Asolo Theater, Education Center, and Bayfront Gardens. Sixty-six acres of flora, fauna, and magic await you in this historic Florida wonderland, so we suggest you get started early!

Sarasota Jungle Garden

If you’re wanting to experience the Florida wilderness without tromping through marshes and wetlands, this is your chance. Hand-feed flamingos, pose with parrots, and encounter the numerous unique species that call Florida home. Spend the day monkeying around a true family attraction that even adults enjoy.

Warm Springs

In the West, they have hot springs, and in Florida, they have warm springs. Measured at a refreshing eighty-five degrees, Warm Springs is visited during the warmer months of the year and is rumored to be the most mineral-dense spring in the United States. Over 100,000 visitors a year come to sun, soak, and soothe the day away in these therapeutic waters. When the beach is not on the radar, Warm Springs comes in a close second.

Busch Gardens

With thrilling rides, delicious food, and loads of entertainment, there’s no shortage of fun and thrills at Busch Gardens. Summertime brings extra fun late-night with firework shows and more. For those wanting to celebrate our Tampa Bay Lightening’s back-to-back championships with us, you can also find two free beers at the Garden Gate inside the park.

Dali Museum

Exquisite art, stunning views, and architecture make the Dali Museum a day well spent. Just north of us in downtown St. Petersburg, one can grab a bite to eat on the boulevard, at the Hangar, or inside the museum itself while enjoying the art, history, and perspective of one of our most renowned artists. The Dali is continuously hosting artist exhibits as well, so check their website for updates.

Mote Marine Laboratory

If the water is what you’re here for, but that sunburn has you down, the Mote Aquarium may be the ticket to buy! Shark exhibits are just the beginning of what you’ll experience here. Stingrays, sea turtles, and manatees may all be viewed in a day’s adventure while you continue to smother aloe on that sun-kissed skin. With science as the attraction, you’re sure to learn something while having the experience of a lifetime.

Fishermans Cove Resort

If the beach is out for the day and driving isn’t your thing, have no fear, Fisherman’s Cove Resort is here. We can entertain the avid athlete, gamer, poolside lounger, angler, and camper within a short walking distance, and you won’t find any shortage of good people to share it with.

Rain or shine, sunburnt or otherwise, we look forward to seeing you soon!
